Job Description

Immediate Opening

The Global Corner is looking for a dynamic part-time teacher. We are a not-for-profit organization that teaches children about other countries and cultures in an effort to create a more well-educated community. Each year we focus on one country and bring it to life for young children through a series of hands-on activities that provide a “virtual adventure” across the globe. We visit elementary schools throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties and teach students in kindergarten through 5th grade. This year’s country is the Philippines!

Hours

8:00 am to 10:30 am approximately 60-80 days during the school year. Pay is 60 per day, just for the days we teach. (Teachers are also required to pitch in to help with a few organization events throughout the year.)

Requirements

  • Elementary School level teaching experience
  • Transportation – we teach in a different school each week and travel across Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties.
  • Flexibility – each day brings a new set of students, a new location, and a new adventure

Curiosity

Although you don’t need to know how to speak Tagalog (the language of The Philippines), a curious mind will help you fit in with our teachers who are constantly learning about the country, culture, and language.

If this sounds like just the job you have been looking for, give Vanessa Mayes a call at The Global Corner, 850-698-2991. She’ll be happy to answer any questions you have and can help you with the next steps in applying.

Bringing the whole world to the classroom

The Global Corner is a Northwest Florida non-profit that promotes global competency and cultural appreciation. We foster understanding, empathy, and civility in the hearts and minds of each child we teach.

Through our program, we bring the experience of traveling to a faraway country to students in classrooms all over Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. Through language, geography, and cultural education, art, song, dance, and more, we provide a comprehensive, tactile learning experience that transports students across borders, and around the globe.
