The VetCV Mission Next Center is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and service-minded Part-Time Veterans Service Officer (VSO) to join our growing team. This is more than a job—it's an opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of those who have served our nation.

Working alongside our Patriot Navigators and community partners, you'll help Veterans access earned benefits, connect to critical resources, overcome barriers, and successfully navigate their next chapter in life.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Veterans Service Officer serves as a trusted advocate, navigator, and resource specialist for Veterans, transitioning Service Members, and their families. This role assists clients in identifying needs, accessing benefits and services, completing claims and applications, coordinating referrals, and connecting with community resources.

The ideal candidate is passionate about serving Veterans, possesses strong interpersonal skills, and thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Veteran Benefits Assistance

  • Assist Veterans and family members with VA benefit applications and claims.
  • Help clients understand available federal, state, and local Veteran benefits.
  • Assist with disability compensation, pension, survivor benefits, education benefits, healthcare enrollment, and other programs.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.

Resource Navigation & Referral Coordination

  • Conduct initial client assessments.
  • Identify unmet needs and barriers.
  • Coordinate referrals to community partners.
  • Facilitate warm handoffs whenever possible.
  • Follow up to ensure Veterans successfully connect to services.

Mission Next Center Services

Assist Veterans with access to:

  • Employment and workforce development resources
  • Housing assistance programs
  • Mental health and wellness resources
  • Financial literacy and support services
  • Education and training opportunities
  • Legal services
  • Disaster relief resources
  • Family support programs
  • Veteran Service Organizations

Suicide Prevention & Wellness Support

  • Participate in suicide prevention initiatives.
  • Conduct screenings and assessments as trained and appropriate.
  • Recognize warning signs and risk factors.
  • Connect Veterans and families with crisis resources when needed.
  • Support continuity of care and follow-up efforts.

Community Engagement

  • Participate in outreach events and community activities.
  • Help build relationships with community organizations.
  • Represent VetCV professionally in the community.
  • Promote awareness of available Veteran services.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Veteran, military spouse, or military family member preferred.
  • Accredited Veteran Service Officer (VSO) certification preferred.
  • Experience assisting Veterans with benefits or community services.
  • Experience in case management, social services, counseling, healthcare navigation, workforce development, or nonprofit services.
  • Knowledge of VA benefits and military culture.
